Lambert-Eaton syndrome

Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or: LEMS for Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome, has similar effects to myasthenia gravis, and is likewise an autoimmune disease.

In cases of Lambert-Eaton syndrome, antibodies against voltage-dependent calcium channels are formed in the area of the presynaptic membrane, which significantly impairs transmission of nerve signals to the muscles.
