Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis (“serious muscle weakness”) is an autoimmune disease in which signal transmission from the nerves to the muscles is inhibited.

The disease involves episodic muscle weakness and easy fatigability. The disease is caused by autoantibody- and cell-mediated destruction of acetylcholine receptors (AChR).
